Progression of Sunrise

This will be a long post…  I just want show how the sunrise progresses on a pretty morning in Jackson Hole. All sunrises aren’t like this, of course. But sometimes you get a good one that just keeps giving and giving and giving. I got up at 4am and drove into the park – I decided to set up here after driving past Schwabacher because there was some wind and I figured the reflection wouldn’t be perfect. I’ll bet it was great down there on this morning too.

5:32 AM, the pre-sunrise color has arrived and it’s beautiful

5:37 am and the light is warming up and the clouds are moving quickly. Official sunrise is 5:46.

5:46 am, the sun has hit the mountains and a few bison have wandered into the meadow.

5:53 am  The light is changing fast and one of the bison poses for me.

5:59am The bison is on the move and so is the sunlight.

6:10 am A small rainbow appears and makes me smile.  A lot has happened in the last 40 minutes and I call it good and pack up my gear.

That’s a pretty good sunrise if you ask me (which you didn’t).  With those shots already made, it was time to go spend a couple hours with Grizzly 399 and her cubs…
